Think Before You Post

We hate to love it and love to hate it. Well at least I do... and it seems businessmen all over the nation are on the same page.

Content posted to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and even MySpace can live FOREVER. Let me repeat this for those of you that don't believe me, f.o.r.e.v.e.r.

American businessman, investor, film producer, and owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, Mark Cuban says, "letting posts live forever is the biggest mistake people can make on social media". See what else he urges users to stop doing on social media and what he thinks the future of social media will hold in the video below.

Every tweet, retweet, post, repost, pin, repin, like or comment define who you are and applications are being created that collect every bit of that and create a profile about you. Sooner or later, all companies will be using such applications and easily make hiring and recruiting decisions based on the user's presence on their social media profiles.

However, this is the good news. If users can make it a choice to use their social media pages as their own personal brand and think before they post, then these future applications will only benefit them on their journey to success.

The bad news is that the majority of users have yet to make this conscious decision. They do not understand that their wall post to a friend is not an intimate conversation but able to be viewed by millions; they do not understand that the picture they posted intoxicated at a party can be screenshot and saved forever; they do not understand that social media is a tool, not a toy and that it can be an asset to help build a reputation for yourself, team and community and lastly, they do not understand that nothing is truly private.

So...What should I post?

1. Say thank you.
 2. Support others.
3. Share news and humor.

4. Engage in discussion with those you admire.

5. Post anything consistent with your personal brand.

Do you have any advice to give to social media users? I'd love to hear it. Hope these few tips encourages all of you, athlete or not, to THINK before you POST! :)

My Super Bowl Secrets

What is the one live sports game that brings millions of people in front of a TV each year? Obviously it's the Super Bowl. In 2015, Super Bowl XLIX brought in 114.4 million viewers- a historic record in US television audience. I was one of those 114.4 million viewers. But you know what else I was doing on this same day? Eating.

You're invited to your husband's coworker's wife's Super Bowl Party and without a doubt, the very first thing that pops into your mind is "Shoot! What should I make?". Have no fear; I'm going to share two of my favorite recipes with you that would've made everybody at last year's Super Bowl party forget that Russell Wilson threw the ball on the 1 yard line and lost the game for the Seattle Seahawks.

Crabbies

Ingredients
1/4 lb butter
1 (6 ounce) jar Kraft Old English cheese spread
1 1/2 tsp. mayonnaise
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. seasoned salt
1 (8 ounce) can crab meat
6 English muffins

Directions
1. In a large bowl, mix crab meat, cheese, and seasoning together.
2. Spread mixture onto split muffin halves.
3. Place under the broiler (cheese side up) until just browned lightly.
4. Cut each muffin half in to 4 little "pizza slice" like pieces.
5. Serve immediately -- they are best while still hot!

Mini S'mores Cups

Ingredients
7 whole graham crackers (1 cup finely crushed)
1/4 cup powdered sugar
6 tablespoons butter, melted
4 bars (1.55 oz each) milk chocolate candy, divided
12 large marshmallows

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place graham crackers into a large resealable plastic bag. Finely crush into crumbs (I like to use a mallet to do this). Combine graham cracker crumbs, powdered sugar, and butter in a small bowl.
2. Place 1 tablespoon of crumb mixture in each cup of a mini muffin pan. Firmly press crumbs to form shallow cups. Bake 4-5 minutes or until edges are bubbling.
3. Meanwhile, break two of the candy bars into rectangles. Remove pan from oven; place one rectangle into each cup.
4. Cut marshmallows in half crosswise using shears dipped in cold water (this is important or else the marshmallows will stick to the shears). Place one marshmallow half, cut-side down, into each cup. Return to oven 1-2 minutes or until marshmallows are slightly softened.
5. Remove pans from oven to cooling rack; cool 15 minutes. Carefully remove cups from pan. Cool completely.
6. Break remaining candy bars and place in small microwavable bowl. Microwave on high 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or until melted and smooth, stirring every 20 seconds.
7. Dip the top of each marshmallow in melted chocolate. Turn top-side up and let stand 40 to 60 minutes or until set.

#TBT to 2011 when I made a football field out of cupcakes for the St. Francis Homecoming game my Senior year (I used the mini s'mores cups to spell out 'Homecoming' and truffle oreos for the footballs).

Eat your heart out, Russell Wilson!
